“William and Scott's studio is impossible to put into words. It's really much more than a shop where great projects go on all the time. These guys live in an amazingly generous, creative, spiritual space that's not really on the physical plane!”

-Carol Mandigo

Creator/Artistic Director of the Catskill Puppet Theater

Geppetto Studios, the winning competition’s costume maker, was featured on the second episode of the 2009 season of Donald Trump’s ever popular “CELEBRITY APPRENTICE”.  Geppetto assisted “Team Athena’, the episode’s winning team, which included the season’s BIG winner, Joan Rivers. Geppetto fabricated the outrageous “Mizz Z” costume worn by professional golfer (LPGA), Natalie Gulbis promoting Zappos.com.

All totaled, Joan won over $500,000.00 for “God’s Love We Deliver”!

WaterAid is an international non-profit organization that focuses exclusively on helping the world's poorest people gain access to safe water and sanitation. Together with improved hygiene, these basic human rights underpin health, education, and livelihoods- forming the first essential step in overcoming poverty.

"Sanitation is a taboo subject - people just don't want to talk about it - but it's really serious. Diarrhea kills 4,000 children a day worldwide-  and is the biggest killer of children in Africa.”

Shanti

Meet Shanti, photographed here volunteering at AIDS WALK NY in Central Park. Shanti (formerly known as Lotta Luv) has been a huge inspiration to several generations of New Yorkers through the years, including those hundreds of thousands of walkers she cheered on at this annual event. Shanti is adorably lovable, especially doing what she loves to do best... open hearts wherever she goes!!!

“It’s especially rewarding when I really connect with someone,” exclaims Geppetto’s Scott Molampy, breaking into a warm smile, “and puppets allow one to cross the many barriers and judgments that people usually project on to one another. The walls come tumbling down. We get to see each other face to face; in pure, naked laughter. I love to get people to laugh- that’s when all of us are most beautiful-  even radiant!”

GEPPETTO’S LOWER EAST SIDE YEARS (1984-1990)

GEPPETTO’S “FILM & VIDEO” PAGE

has recently undergone an extensive (and along overdue) make-over!

RIGHT:  Geppetto Studios worked very closely with brilliant writer, director, and actor, Scott Prendergast, crafting his wonderfully whimsical mascot concept for this much celebrated, hilariously original, feature film:  KABLUEY (Whitewater Films).

It was a marvelous experience for Geppetto’s artisans to have been given the opportunity to fabricate this most dear and precious blue fellow. For weeks, the studio was filled with yards and yards of the softest, loveliest, shade of hand-dyed ‘Kabluey Blue’ fabric...

LEFT:  Geppetto fabricated (and performed in!) these wildly wonderful, wearable puppets featured in DINOSAUR JR.’S classic Warner Brothers’ music video, “I don’t think so”. Directed by the tremendously talented Greg Stump, it was shot in about a week, entirely in and around several colorful locations in Denver and Boulder, Colorado.

This outrageously funny video is one of our all time favorites, featuring Scott Molampy as a giant hot pink yeti (pictured here); and partner, Will Mills, as a gnarly, hunchbacked neanderthal-esque bartender.

And the gregarious, blonde beauty puppet (think: big busted version of Joni Mitchell, or, perhaps, Marianne Faithfull, circa 1968) was hysterically puppeteered by the incomparably beautiful and truly fabulous multi-media artist, Ace Mackay Smith.

BED BUG!

Client: Back Home Pictures

How about a date?

This adorable full bodied costume depicting everyone’s favorite obligatory hematophagous (bloodsucking) insect was fabricated for a recent television commercial. We think you’ll agree, Geppetto’s team of skilled artisans did an amazing job here with this anatomically correct replication of a bed bug (costume modeled by Geppetto’s very own, Will Mills).
