Geppetto Studios, Inc. worked very closely with brilliant writer, director, and actor, Scott Prendergast (below left), crafting his wonderfully whimsical mascot concept for his much celebrated, hilariously original, feature film: KABLUEY!!! It was a MARVELOUS experience for Geppetto’s artisans to have been given the opportunity to fabricate this most dear and precious blue fellow. For weeks the studio was filled with yards and yards of the softest and loveliest shade of hand-dyed ‘Kabluey Blue’ fabric...

The colorful cast of this delightfully fresh, intelligent, and heart-opening film includes Lisa Kudrow, Christine Taylor, Teri Garr, Conchata Ferrell, Chris Parnell, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and, of course, Scott Prendergast    (Whitewater Films).

“The filmmaker (Scott Prendergast) also began searching for a company that could construct the suit. "It's such a weird thing, like, looking on the Internet: Who makes mascot costumes?" he says. "For me, it was like picking the surrogate mom, because the suit was my baby." A friend who worked on the puppet-heavy series Wonder Showzen directed him to Brooklyn, N.Y.-based company Geppetto Studios, which specializes in painstakingly detailed costumes and puppets. The first time Prendergast tried on the finished product, he realized that the challenges Salman faces in the film were all too true-to-life. "Once the neck is sealed, you can't get out of it, and you can't even touch your face, because the hands don't reach up to the head," he says. "The producers were like, 'That's hilarious.' And they all went downstairs, and I was like, 'Oh, I can't get out of the suit.' I went to the door to get someone, and I couldn't get the door open. I was like, 'Oh my God, the joke of the movie is real: I'm trapped.' "

“Kabluey is as wacky and different as its title...A fresh, unique, touching and often hilarious film that is a real summer treat...all hail Scott Prendergast as a new director who is going places!”

"This is the best comedy I've seen in a long time. Rush to see this!"

---Stephen Farber, The Hollywood Reporter

“Rarely has an independent film benefited so greatly from a single piece of costume design.”

--Nathan Rabin

“Flat out Brilliant!”

--Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel

“The ingeniously designed suit (kudos to Geppetto Studios) offers plentiful possibilities for humor both high and low, and Prendergast takes advantage of every unfortunate hand portal, restricted movement, and disastrous bathroom break.”    ---Jim Ridley, The Village Voice

“Very funny in a ghastly way.” — Stephen Holden, The New York Times

And from Filmmaker Magazine:

“Visual humor is a rarity in films these days, so writer-director-actor Scott Prendergast brings welcome qualities to the cinematic landscape. Working in the tradition of Chaplin, Keaton, Tati or the Woody Allen of "Sleeper", Prendergast makes a striking debut with "Kabluey." The film is an ambitious mix of slapstick, black comedy and stinging social commentary.”
